Defect Classifications

Defect Classifications (30 characters) become available once a Product is selected on the Product Tab.  More than one Defect Classification may be selected for each Product to record multiple reasons.  The Product(s) are selected first, which is often at the point when a new Concern is originated.  The Concern Owner usually chooses Defect Classifications after Actions or Corrective Actions are completed. 

Defect Classifications can be defined in one, two or three tiers of detail for Reports, Charts and Queries.  Add or delete Sources, Types and Reasons by clicking on the Add or Delete buttons in the respective columns.  Each level may contain an unlimited number of terms:

• Level 1 - Defect Source (top level)
• Level 2 -             Defect Type (sub-categories for each term in level 1)
• Level 3 -                         Defect Reason (sub-categories for each term in Level 2)

Go to: Configuration | Data Names | Defects to define terminology and the number of levels desired:

• Terminology used for Defect and the names for each level can be customized, (i.e. Classifications... Level 1, Level 2, Level 3) 
• Click the Omit checkboxes to use fewer than all three tiers or to completely disable Defect Classifications: 
• Omit Defect Source to disable Defect Classifications
• Omit Defect Type for a one-tier list
• Omit Defect Reason for a two-tier list
